David E. Ambrose
October 1, 1948 ~ January 27,2023
David Ambrose, 74, of Middleton,MA passed away unexpectedly on Friday January 27, 2023. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Sidmore) Ambrose, his two daughters Melissa Pellizzaro, husband Mark Pellizzaro, daughters Sarah and Madison, of Middleton,MA and Taryn Ambrose, her companion Matthew Stanwood and expected son, of Rowley,MA.
David was the son of the late Orville (Duke) and Carolyn Mackenzie Ambrose of Danvers,MA. David was a Danvers High School graduate, class of 1967, later receiving a degree from the Essex Agricultural School which he utilized in his 31-year career with the Town of Danvers Public Works Forestry Department. His greatest joys while working in Danvers were the annual raising of the Town Center Christmas Tree and helping the school children plant trees on Arbor Day.
He also had a successful private tree business where he prided himself on being the “Tree Surgeon”. His customers were always amazed by his detailed workmanship. Everyone who knew David, had at least one tree story of him.
David was an outdoorsman, whether hunting in his younger years or fishing with his daughters and granddaughters. He was an avid coin collector and metal detectorist, finding hundreds of interesting coins/artifacts and often sighting directions based off his past dig sites. This was truly a passion of his for over forty years. David was a lover of all animals, especially beagles and grey tiger cats whom he always treated like close family members.
One of his proudest accomplishments was his grandchildren who he loved watching grow up and “talking shop” with them. He supported all their activities, whether on the stage or field and was so excited to know that in April he was going to be a grandfather to his first grandson.
David was a soft-spoken man, a great listener, who always made time for others and will truly be missed.
He also leaves behind his brother William Ambrose and wife Marylee Ambrose as well as close cousin James Gordon and wife Mary Gordon of Danvers MA along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
